Madison Glossner, Virginia Criminal Defense Attorney
Partner | Reckless Driving, DUI and Criminal Defense
Empathetic counsel. Thorough preparation. A strong voice in court.
H. Madison Glossner, who goes by Madison, is a partner at NOVADefenders, S&R Law Firm PLLC, and a Virginia criminal defense lawyer who has represented people accused of crimes since 2016. Her practice centers on reckless driving and DUI, and she also handles domestic assault and battery, juvenile and other criminal cases in courts throughout Northern Virginia.
Madison believes every client deserves to be heard. She listens, explains what is happening in plain terms, and makes sure each client understands the risks and choices ahead. In court, she sees her role as being her client’s voice, and she fights hard for them.
Reckless driving is a large part of Madison’s practice. She regularly represents drivers charged at speeds of 100 mph and above, cases in which jail is a real possibility and a conviction stays on a Virginia driving record for 11 years. She has helped clients in those cases avoid jail and, at times, obtain a reduced charge, results that turned on each client’s record, the evidence and the preparation done before court.
Madison also defends DUI and drug-related DUI charges, including cases involving an elevated blood alcohol reading, where mandatory jail terms raise the stakes. In those cases she has secured amendments and other favorable resolutions for clients, depending on the evidence and each client’s history. She has tried DUI and drug-related DUI (DUID) cases in General District Court, and her Circuit Court experience includes jury trials; she has handled battery and DUI cases there.
Domestic assault and battery cases are among the most difficult she handles. The people involved are often family, emotions run high, and the consequences can be severe: a protective order can keep a client out of their own home, and a conviction can affect firearm rights, employment and, for some clients, immigration status. Madison guides clients through each stage of these cases with care and a clear view of what is at stake.
Madison appears often in Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, where she handles juvenile cases as well as domestic assault and battery cases. Her experience there began as an intern with the Fairfax County Public Defender’s Office. Before joining NOVADefenders, she practiced at Patrick Anderson & Associates, where her work included many JDR cases, including domestic cases and cases involving sex offenses. An internship in a Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office gave her an early look at how prosecutors evaluate cases, a perspective she still brings to every negotiation.
Madison co-chairs the Fairfax Bar Association’s General District Court Committee, which reviews court policies and concerns, works to streamline the court’s processes, and looks for ways to make the court more accessible to people who lack resources.
Madison is originally from Northern Virginia. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, exercising and hiking with her dog, Pippa, an energetic German Shorthaired Pointer.
